  • Podcasting
  • E-commerce

When we were first approached by Eleven to tender for their new online store, our first instinct was to look for an angle to help promote their offering in a fairly crowded part of the web. That angle came with the creation of some Video Podcasts about vintage Levis denim, discussing things as weird and wonderful as hidden rivets, tags written with a big E (LEVIS) or little e (LeVIS) and many more fine details. The point of this was to promote the team at Eleven as genuine experts and enthusiasts whilst driving traffic to the website from the likes of YouTube and iTunes. Future plans are to translate the podcasts into Japanese as there is a huge market for vintage denim out there, whilst continuing the podcasts into other brands.

Currently the first 2 are available at the Eleven website which is still in soft launch mode, however it will be fully stocked very soon, at which point we will make the videos available via all of the other websites available to us.

We've had a great time building Sole Heaven, although it is fair to say they set us something of a challenge in the design stakes! We always encourage our clients to come up with inspiration for designs, things they like which might not necessarily have anything to do with a website. When Dale from Soleheaven said he was bringing in some holiday snaps we wondered if this was going to be one of those tricky ones!

The snaps in questions however turned out to be pretty good, and we used them when making the skyline on the site.

The site includes some great use of video and the photography is also excellent, which really makes a huge difference.

Julian Invited to Speak at Design Event 09 julian May 20

I'm flattered to have been asked to speak at the Pecha Kucha night as part of Design Event 09. The night takes place on June 18th at the stunning Live Theatre on Newcastle's Quayside and a wide range of guests have been asked to speak on anything they see fit!

The Pecha Kucha format began in Japan as an attempt to stop Architects rambling on for too long when giving presentations. As a result presenters get 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide, so I imagine timing is going to be important!

New website coming (really) soon & work in progress. julian Apr 22

Well it's confession time, we've just been incredibly busy here and our own website has taken the brunt of our neglect. We are close to a new release though, and the first previews of it should appear in our Work In Progress section very soon.

In fact there are a few new projects to put in there, we have been awarded the contract for the Sunderland Software City website, due for first phase release in the middle of May. Also in progress is a website for Eaga Plc, we've done a few websites for them now (5 actually) but this is the biggy - the Eaga.com offering. Add in a new site for Ultimate Homes in Teesside and a bunch of other things we can't talk about yet, we're busier than ever - but the new website is coming soon, we promise!

Busy Times at Orange Bus! julian Mar 26

Lots of great things happening here at the windmill, we won a couple of awards last night at the North East Digital Awards, which we're really pleased about!

We have launched our Kyte channel for British Touring Car Team Tempus Sport last week and it's currently embedded on a Beta site we created for them.  We have a new version of the site coming out in the next few days though and it looks fantastic.  So far over 1000 unique visitors have viewed the videos on the channel, not bad for 4 days and considering they only show testing!

In addition to this we created a new blog site for driver Harry Vaulkhard, whom we have a long term relationship with, we'd like to wish Harry all the best for what looks like a fantastic season ahead.

Finally there are a number of new deals we're not allowed to announce yet, however they will follow soon.

Oh, and our new website is still in development, but it will definitely be coming soon!  Everytime we get close to a launch someone else has a great idea for a feature we simply have to implement, but we will launch in the near future!

Soleheaven.com wins Drapers Etailer award! julian Jan 30

Congratulations to Dale Parr of Soleheaven on picking up the award for Best Specialist Etailer last night at the Drapers awards.

Dale has worked tirelessly to promote and develop his business and was determined to carry out his vision when appointing Orange Bus to create the site back in early 2008.

We've always said it's better to have a custom built site exactly to suit your needs, rather than a template you have to somehow fit into and we're delighted that Soleheaven has proved us right on this occasion!

The Journey Continues for One of Us! mike Oct 29

Around Easter the team at Orange Bus gave up one weekend and donated it to charity in the form of The Free Web Project. At the end of it a website was born for a much deserving charity, Team Kenya, a charitable organisation supporting and working with communities in Western Kenya.

Well the chance arose to go out to Kenya with them on one of their trips, and Torunn gladly took that opportunity. You can follow her as she blogs her experiences over at the Team Kenya website - Torunn's Kenyan blog. You can also help out with a donation here - sponsor Torunn and Team Kenya at everyclick.

Orange Bus have moved - into a Windmill! julian Aug 4

We've finally moved from our old attic room in Jesmond, (which was becoming rather cramped to say the least) and have taken up residence in our new offices, the windmill on Claremont Road, Spital Tongues a mile to the North of Newcastle.

It's a great space for the team to work in and we can all enjoy afternoon tea on our roof terrace!

Mongol Rally 2008 julian Jul 31

We have a good friend currently taking part in the Mongol Rally in a 1959 Morris Minor called Martha. Jim Mann, owner of Bedsearcher.com and Just Paintball first mentioned he fancied this over a few beers with Mike and I some time ago, we naturally thought he was joking so offered to do his website... He clearly wasn't joking of course and is currently in Kazakstan with a slightly rattled Martha.

Head on over to his pages at www.2008-mongol-rally.com and read both Jim and Martha's blogs - they're well worth keeping a check on.

Good luck Jim (and Martha), we'll hopefully see you soon!
